Grow a Plant: How to Get Seeds and Plant Them in Your Base
Seed packs are the main way to get seeds in Grow a Plant: buy packs with cash, open them, and plant the seeds in your base. NPC offers and codes add extras.
The main way to get plantable seeds in Grow a Plant is opening seed packs. The game's own How to Play sums up the loop: open seed packs to get seeds, then plant and water them in your base. So your task is simple — get your hands on packs, open them, and put the seeds down where they can grow and earn money.
How to get a seed, step by step
-
Buy a seed pack from the shop. Seed packs are bought with in-game cash, and the shop's stock rotates on a restock timer. You'll run into different pack types, like the moonlight, crystal and bloom seed packs, and the better packs cost more — one pack, for example, is priced at 2 million cash. A pack you want isn't always going to be in stock, so if it's missing, come back after the next restock.
-
Open the pack to get your seeds. Opening a pack gives you seeds, each with a stated rarity. Packs can return anything from commons to rares — a moonlight seed pack, for example, opened straight into a rare seed — so treat every pack as a roll and plan your cash accordingly.
-
Put the seed down in your base. Seeds become plants once you put them down in your base. Walk to an open spot, put the seed down, then water it to speed up growth. From there it matures, generates cash, and can attract buying visitors — the full growth side is covered in our how to grow plants guide.
The recorded run below shows that route end to end: buying at the seed shop between restocks, opening the pack, and placing the seeds in the base.
No room? Dealing with max plants
Every seed you put down takes a plot, and a full base blocks new plantings — you'll hit a "max plants" message when you try to squeeze in one more. You have two fixes:
- Sell weak plants. Selling the commons and uncommons you don't need frees plots for rarer seeds, and selling refunds some cash.
- Upgrade your base size to add more plots, or swap directly: remove a weaker plant and put the new seed down in its place.
Bonus ways to get seeds and packs
Seeds and packs can also land in your hands outside the shop:
- NPC visitors. Offers from visiting NPCs are occasional events, but they can pay in seeds — an accepted offer can hand over a mystery seed pack, and a salesman who likes one of your plants can give you a common seed in return. Take good offers when they appear, but don't rely on them as a farming route.
- Promo codes. Working codes can award free seed packs. See what's currently live on our Grow a Plant codes page.
The shop's restock timer keeps packs coming back, and NPC offers and codes add occasional extras on top, so you always have another shot at seeds — and every seed you put down is another shot at the rare and secret plants.
